Purpose of the Position
Assist Plant Manager with polyurethane production operation in processing materials, manufacturing products and assuring quality of product and services to meet customer expectations while adhering to all policies, procedures and instructions as defined in our Quality Management System (QMS), Employee Handbook, Health and Safety Manual, or any other instruction issued by the company.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Prepare and implement operational schedules and coordinates manufacturing activities with other unit functions to ensure production and quality of products meet expected standards.
Maintain a clean, safe and orderly work environment by properly identifying and storing ingredients, supplies and products.
Lead initiatives to optimize manufacturing processes in the areas of production efficiency, cycle time, yield, quality, maintenance, costs, and safety.
Identify, obtain approval, and implement capital equipment improvement projects.
Implement, Train and Validate Job Specific training for all new employees within stated deadlines, using the Job Specific Training checklist.
Supervise all production employees and coordinate activities with other functions to insure all operations comply with our QMS procedures and instructions to insure efficient, quality output that meet or exceed customer expectations and provide for continuous improvement of those operations.
Review customer orders, inventories, and production capacities to determine quantities and priorities
of production to be scheduled and develops and implements a plan of department operations to efficiently meet those requirements and insures employee, material, and equipment resources are maintained to meet production demands.
Prepare and submit timely production reports to the Plant Manager and corporate staff detailing pounds produced, hours worked, and significant situations at the plant.
Responsible to hire, train, evaluate, assess, reward, discipline, and terminate assigned employees in accordance with company policies and applicable regulations to insure maximum competency and operational efficiencies
Submit required reports of planned and actual manufacturing and shipping activity to Customer Service and Plant management.
Prepare documents to comply with government regulations and trains workers in compliance with QMS, OSHA, and all company policies and regulatory guidelines.
Develop or revise standard operational and working practices and observe workers and equipment to ensure compliance with standards. Actively work to improve operational efficiencies and product quality through changes in procedures and equipment.
Maintain material inventory, monitors computer status of this inventory, and work with other functions to insure this inventory is consistent with good manufacturing practices and can efficiently support scheduled operations. Control the inventory of quarantined or held materials to insure their safe, efficient, and timely disposition.
Insure that plant spaces and equipment are kept in an orderly manner in compliance with Good Housekeeping standards, that equipment is maintained as required for efficient operations, and that all employees are properly trained in operating, safety, and regulatory requirements.
Maintain time, production, utilization, efficiency, quality and other records as directed.
Conform with and abide by all regulations, policies, work procedures, safety rules and instructions.
Work closely with R&D, Product Line Management and Engineering on new product development and/or improved product performance, assessing packaging needs and quality, testing alternate raw materials for product performance enhancement and/or cost optimization, and support of other activities such as field tests, competitive and market assessments, etc. as needed.
Computer Equipment and Software Requirements
The position requires the ability to work with a personal computer in a Windows environment. Requires proficiency in Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
Education and Experience Required
Requires a BS in Chemical Engineering plus a minimum of 2-5 years experience in the manufacture of polyurethane based products, moisture mitigation membranes, and moisture cured polyurethanes. Professional Engineering, EIT, and/or an MBA would be a plus.
Licensing or other Special Requirements
Requires a valid drivers license and a good driving record
Bilingual communication skills in Spanish/English preferred.Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.
