Essential Functions of the Job:
The primary role of this position will be to monitor the ticket queue for the team and work on tickets that have many of the responsibilities included below.
Additionally, there is a possibility of project related work, which is new application design/deployments, related to the same areas below.
Database Administration Installation and setup of Microsoft SQL Server products, including SQL 2005 to SQL 2008 R2 and any future releases Plan and maintain the storage environment behind the SQL Servers Troubleshoot query performance issues that could be related to application queries Plan and maintain clustered SQL environments Application Administration Installation and setup of business specific applications Develop standards and best practices for application usage Work with applications developed using the.
NET framework and Microsoft coding languages Troubleshoot applications issues throughout the entire application architecture Windows Administration Installation and setup various editions of the Windows operating system Document and alter settings within Windows OS based on application or security requirements Plan and deploy applications on the Windows servers Monitor the health of the application services and servers Maintain a secure Windows environment Analytical/Decision Making
Responsibilities:
Log monitoring - Scanning logs and generating reports for management review Patching - Device firmware upgrades and escalation of gaps Solutions - Analyze solutions for problems and discuss with management Ability to demonstrate sound judgment and be able to prioritize assignments.
Requirements Knowledge and Skills Requirements:
Technical Skills:
Knowledge of Microsoft development languages and.
NET Framework Strong troubleshooting skills Strong knowledge of the relational database management system, primarily Microsoft SQL Server 2005 or 2008.
Strong understanding of a SQL Server queries and how to properly construct queries to achieve the highest level of performance.
Strong understanding of standard application architecture and development Extensive knowledge Windows Server operating systems including Windows Server 2003 and 2008.
Knowledge of various infrastructure applications including Active Directory, DNS, and DHCP.
Strong knowledge of IIS 6.
