Job Summary
The Department of Internal Medicine/Center for Hypothalamic Research is recruiting for a Research Tech II position in the lab of Dr. Laurent Gautron. The Gautron lab is a multi-disciplinary lab studying the central regulation of metabolism and glucose homeostasis. We use animal models along with cutting edge molecular techniques in our studies.
Preferred Qualifications
Prior experience performing independent research in an academic research lab and has worked with mice. Specific techniques include mouse colony management and genotyping.
The applicant is organized, works well with limited oversight, takes initiative, and is an effective communicator.
Experience and Education
Bachelor's degree with major coursework in field of assignment and no experience required. or
Two (2) years college with emphasis in coursework in field of assignment and two (2) years of laboratory experience at level of Laboratory Technical Assistant or equivalent. or
High school graduation or GED and four (4) years laboratory experience to include two (2) years at level of Laboratory Technical Assistant or equivalent.
Job Duties
Performs routine scientific and medical research work in science areas such as biology, chemistry, physics, or other related scientific field.
Assembles and/or operates various laboratory equipment and apparatus.
Records research data in accordance with prescribed procedures, discussing results with supervisor.
Assists in collection of data for project reports.
Reads literature and confers with supervisor concerning implementation of new procedures.
May plan for, and provide working supervision to, work of laboratory personnel of lower grade engaged in limited phase of research project.
Performs other duties as assigned.

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
