GENERAL FUNCTION The Sr. Manager of HR/Payroll Operations manages the North American Payroll team, with overall responsibility to manage the Company's payroll function and bi-weekly disbursement of payroll (including garnishments and taxes) to approximately 30,000 employees across the United States, Canada and Puerto Rico in compliance with applicable federal and state wage and hour laws. This person will ensure employees are paid timely and accurately by managing payroll preparation; completing payroll reporting; maintaining payroll records; and monitoring payroll taxes and liabilities. MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Manage and guarantee accuracy of weekly and bi-weekly disbursement of multi-state and multi-country (US & Canada) payroll, including garnishments, benefits and taxes to 30,000 employees consistent with federal and state wage and hour laws Ensure the processing of new hires, temporary workers, transfers, promotions and terminations is accurate and timely Supervise payroll staff of approx. 10 employees Critically review and analyze current payroll, benefits, tax procedures, and systems in order to recommend and implement changes leading to best-practice operations Audit W-2s, payroll balance sheets, YTD earnings, etc. Communicate actively with Operations, HR and Billing departments to review cross-departmental impacts and reconcile data sharing Partner with other HR groups to foster improvements in day-to-day processes Manage regular preparation of relevant management reports, including weekly, monthly, quarterly and year-end reports (gross payroll, hours worked, vacation accrual, tax deductions, benefit deductions, etc.) Support data requests for legal cases BASIC QUALIFICATIONS 8
years experience managing a multi-state and multi-country (US & Canada) payroll department, including staff Extensive knowledge of ADP GlobalView, Kronos, and SAP HCM (HR system) Bachelors degree CPP (Certified Payroll Professional) Proficient at MS Office (especially Excel) Strong understanding of SOX compliance requirements Working experience of payroll tax at the federal, state and local levels Ability to manage and lead staff to excellent performance Ability to work on a team Strong organization skills Prior system conversion experience PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS Familiarity with a Self-Service HR/Payroll model Prior employment at a Payroll provider (such as PayChecks, Ceridian, ADP, etc.) Business Objects reporting experience Ability to interpret union contracts
Salary Range:
$150K -- $200K
Minimum Qualification
HR ManagementEstimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.
