Responsible for Quality Control Program on all projects located within Turner Construction's Central Region (Texas, Oklahoma, Arkansas, Colorado, Kansas, Nebraska, Iowa). Able to plan, coordinate and develop project-specific Quality Control (QC) Plans that incorporate the policies and procedures necessary to deliver the project fully compliant with contract documents. Manage, advise, supervise, and assist project QC leaders administer the implementation of project-specific QC Plan(s). Reports to:
Central Region Director of Risk Management Location of assignment is housed in any one of the five (5) Central Region offices Essential Duties & Responsibilities :
Establish and maintain working relationships with Turner Operations Managers, Turner Superintendents / Project Managers, Owners, architects, consultants, trade partners, and vendors to ensure that the project-specific QC Plan delivers a fully compliant project in accordance with the contract requirements. Work with the project teams to develop Project Specific Quality Control Programs on all projects. Lead the Quality Control Kick-off Meeting for all projects. Participate in the 1A-(c) Project Kick-off Meeting. Assure BU Operations is staffing the project QC role sufficiently, qualified, specialized Coach, lead, advise and develop all project based QC staff Develop, in conjunction with the project team, a comprehensive working knowledge and understanding of the contract documents including division 1 and all QC sections of specifications and plans Insure the project team executes the project-specific QC Plan in a manner that engages all project staff, trade partners, vendors and consultants. Assist with the development and execution of the project-specific QC Plan with scopes of work, constructability review of the contract documents and first installation review as the building progresses. Expand the development of the QC Plan as appropriate as the project progresses to augment the program by continually improving procedures. Continually improve strategies and tools to efficiently and effectively document, track and record compliance with the contract documents (1st delivery, 1st installation inspection, etc. - see Turner QC Playbook). Facilitate and / or lead BU staff training sessions on QC for high risk building systems (ie:
soils/foundations, building envelope, framing / life safety, MEP, etc) Verify QC is part of all project coordination meetings, Foreman's meetings, Staff Meetings and periodic specific trade meetings. Must be proficient in:
IBC / ICC NRTL (Nationally Recognized Testing Laboratories) NVLAP (National Voluntary Laboratory Accreditation Program) Common Standards (including / not limited to:
ASTM - American Society for Testing and Materials ACI - American Concrete Institute, ACI Manual of Concrete Practice ANSI - American Standards Institute AWS Concrete Reinforcing Steel Institute Manual for Standard Practice TMS - The Masonry Society Implement program to on-board qualified 3rd party envelop consultants. Develop scope for services (ie:
exterior wall, moisture/vapor barrier, fire/life-safety, soils, etc). Identify specified and un-specified project mock-up installations Insure the project team (TCCo, subs, A/E) has access, reviews and obtains any required approvals for mock-ups throughout the project. Where appropriate, integrate elements of project-specific QC Plan with the project safety plan (safely build while maintaining Quality). Verify project testing and inspections are being arranged, completed and documented for third-party testing and inspections. Review Installation / QC deficiencies log.(eg:
soils concrete, reinforcing steel, structural steel, fireproofing, metal deck, envelope, MEP systems, etc). Insure deficiencies are assigned to an accountable project team member and corrected timely.Corrections/alternative field solutions are documented. Insure concrete placement records (pour cards) are being utilized and maintained pre and post pour. Insure Closed Wall procedures are developed and maintained (ie:
color coded studs). Insure project close-out and quality reports are collected and maintained. Insure project team is empowered to direct removal and replacement of non-compliant work. Document all non-compliant materials and/or workmanship. Document compliance after corrective work is completed prior to starting any subsequent work. Research and apply additional Quality Control and LEAN procedures to enhance the quality of project delivery. When needed/required, create and implement Regional QC Problem Solving (A3) process and report progress related to QC Program (continuous improvement). Perform safety inspections and reporting via participation in Turner's on-line safety auditing program. Minimum - completion of 30 hour OSHA training will be required Ensure strict adherence to ethics and compliance requirements at all times.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree with a minimum of five years' experience or equivalent combination of education, training and/or experience and construction experience that bridges both field and engineering responsibilities. Knowledge of the construction process, means and methods, and materials, their characteristics, installation procedures and tolerances. Strong computer skills and a familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite. Knowledge of Turner's project management software and leadership skills. Very strong verbal and written communication skills are required. Proven leadership qualities and skills with the desire to teach and mentor staff. May require QA/QC certification depending on specific project.
Salary Range:
$80K -- $100K
Minimum Qualification
Quality ManagementEstimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.
