JOB
Summary:
The Safety Fleet Manager is responsible for training and educating management, and drivers in Safe practices in accordance with federal regulations, company policy, and industry best practices.
Responsible for consulting in the development and implementation of training programs for assigned fleet.
The candidate must also possess the ability to influence Safe work practices, and compliance with company policies and procedures, State and Federal regulation regarding worker, workplace and environmental safety.
KEY
Responsibilities:
Ensure compliance with company policies and assist in the cultural development of operations and other employees on company policies, Safety programs, initiatives, and ensures that the company expectations for Safety are followed.
Audit daily, weekly, monthly safety metrics to determine that equipment, proper record keeping, and driver work practices are following company policies and ensures implementation of best practices for their assigned fleet.
Review periodic reports for assigned fleet to accommodate the needs and areas of focus for each operations group Providing weather updates to drivers and office associates.
Participate in routine calls, meetings, and huddles to discuss Safety related information with operational management.
Investigate accident/injuries for root causes and contributing factors, determine what actions could have been taken to prevent unsafe behavior.
Present recommendations on safety events and assist in the coaching training, and/or disciplinary actions resulting from the safety event Follow up with managers regarding the proper documentation of Safety related events, training briefings and driver coaching, training, and/or disciplinary procedures.
Provides guidance, training and expertise to operations regarding, company policy, industry best practices, regulatory compliance standards, internal use of systems, safety analysis to ensure management is properly equipped to develop and sustain a thriving fleet safety culture.
MINIMUM
Qualifications:
Must have prior experience in Regulatory compliance and motor carrier Safety programs Knowledge of Federal Motor Carrier Safety regulations Possess excellent public speaking skills Strong communications skills - both oral and written Ability to work independently Ability to write reports, read and interpret business correspondence, and procedure manuals Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers and the public Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals Must have the ability to communicate across all levels of the organization Must be proficient in the use of general office equipment, computer, and various software applications Must be familiar with the operation of a tractor-trailer.
PREFERRED
Qualifications:
Knowledge of federal/state employment practices requirements Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations Proven record of making well-informed decisions in both routine and emergency situations Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form High degree of initiative and independent execution.

WORK
Experience:
2
years of experience working in transportation, motor carrier experience, and/or experience with Motor carrier safety programs EDUCATION:
College degree and/or 2 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience and 2 years of management experience #LI-MA1 Medical, Vision, Dental, Supplemental, and Life Insurances available
