Overview:
Master Halco, North Americas leading manufacturer/distributor of fencing and perimeter security products is seeking an experienced Product Manager - Decking, Railing, and Outdoor Living Structures.
The Product Manager is responsible for the product planning for the Decking Railing & Outdoor Structures (DR&OS) category and bringing growth-oriented, viable, and profitable products to the market for Master Halco.
Provides product knowledge expertise (both product marketing and technical support) for the Sales/Distribution Branches to support their sales and profitability growth.
This position will work cross functionally with other team members and business units, following the New Product Development (NPD) process, to bring new products to market.
This process includes evaluating the profitability and potential of new and existing product ideas from a varied number of sources, i.

, customers, branch sales associates, managers, or other areas.

Responsibilities:
Engages with the sales team and purchasing on collaboration of new product ideas and or expansion of existing product lines Researches the new product opportunities for DR&OS for Master Halco to determine the size (sales), scope, probability and effort/resource required Executes the product launch with the field sales team Provides technical support and product expertise to the sales team for all DR&OS.
Is the in-house subject matter expert for this category Product Management Maintains and builds relationships with Decking, Railing, and Outdoor Products (DR&OS and adjacency suppliers) to grow engagement for Master Halco and create opportunities for Sales Promotions and new product opportunities Works in tandem with the Purchasing to Department to negotiate pricing, terms, rebates, and other programs Defines the product features and benefits (and hierarchy of importance), product positioning (include target price, profit margin and cost), requirements and specifications Understands the market and competition for existing and new products, analyzes information, and develops SWOT summary and summarizes how we win in the playing field Leads the development of marketing launch materials, print and digital, sales promotion strategy, special incentives such as spiffs, as well as other tools and specialized programs Brings new products to market from ideation to new product creation to launch supporting the sales initiative.
Includes leading the phase out of impacted items from the new products Captures the voice of the customer (Internal & External), which can be end user and/or contractor to support new product initiatives.
Identifies their key criteria needs and wants Maintains a bank of new product opportunities for DR&OS that will support company growth.
Identifies the value of each opportunity, both financial and strategic value.
New product opportunities will be prioritized with Sales and Operations Leadership based on incremental growth Provides Sales Analysis back to the Regions and Branches to help them manage the effectiveness and profitability.
Provides solution-oriented ideas to them to help them grow the category Defines and general pricing strategy for DR&OS products.
Assists with pricing set-ups at the branch level Assists with DR&OS software development Project Management Leads a cross-functional team in bringing new products to market following the NPD (suggest spelling out) process Responsible for the quality aspects of the NPD process, ensuring that all Stage Gates and Activities are addressed or accounted for Leads the development and provides the easy button tools to the branches - easy to engage with new product opportunities, easy to use sales tools, easy to set up pricing, easy to activate at the branch, etc Training Create and execute product training with sales team.
Training should include:
Product Positioning Hands-on training regarding usage and installation Value proposition both to contractors and contractors to end users Technical details that are relevant for selling the product Product Features and Benefits, what separates it from the competition Product and or customer segment specific programs Ties in with STEPS training programs terminology including explore and present Sales Tools for our sales team and our customers customer
Qualifications:
New product development experience, from concept to launch Excellent presentation / training skills before both small and large groups Strong research (quantitative and qualitative) and analytical skills Driven and results oriented; KPIs, and new product expansion to meet corporate targets Ability to work with all levels of personnel within the organization Creative problem solver with hands on engagement and solid business acumen Strong project management skills/experience Strong interpersonal skills including the ability to effectively motivate and support the creative as well as analytical aspects of project management Effective strategic thinking and tactical execution Strong organizational skills Ability to manage problems into solutions Strong communications skills Creative as well as critical thinking Soft skills include organization, strong communication skills, leadership, time management, and multi-tasking Proficient in MS Office - Word, PowerPoint, Excel Required Education and Experience Bachelors degree in Marketing or a related discipline or equivalent work experience Prior experience developing innovative new products and improving existing products Technical product work and expertise Related industry experience preferred (outdoor living, decking, railing, fencing, or building materials) Ability to travel as needed (25%-35%) Recommended Skills Analytical Commercial Awareness Communication Coordinating Creativity Critical Thinking Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.
