Federal Air Marshals are deployed to assess, address and mitigate varying potential risks and threats to transportation and travelers.
Duties may include but are not limited to:
Protecting commercial passenger flights by deterring and countering the risk of terrorist activity, aircraft piracy, and other crimes to protect the nation's transportation infrastructure.
Participating in multi-agency task forces involving other federal, state, and local agencies in support of an integrated Federal law enforcement and intelligence approach to proactively fight terrorism.
Coordinating and administering law enforcement, investigative, analytical, or advisory activities to ensure compliance with federal laws, regulations, and other mandatory guidelines.

Minimum three years of work experience, or bachelor's degree or higher, or combination of education and experience.
Successfully pass a pre-employment background check, including a polygraph.
Successfully pass a medical evaluation and a physical fitness assessment.
At least 21 years of age at the time of application.
Maximum age of 36 at the time of appointment (Preference eligible veterans are permitted a waiver allowing for entry on duty prior to their 40th birthday).
