The Senior Defined Benefits Actuarial Analyst performs analysis and calculations necessary to complete client pension projects for review by Senior staff. He/she is involved in numerous client projects simultaneously and must manage their contribution to project time and budget effectively to ensure a correct and complete client deliverable. To fulfill this role, the Actuary will:
Program, review and develop annual client liabilities using actuarial principles and Mercer's Global Retirement System (GRS).
Check and Analyze actuarial valuation results including the analysis of census data and review of test case results that are prepared and presented by the Retirement Service Center.
Analyze and assist with specific financial calculations including the calculation of plan liabilities, asset calculations and trust statement review in client situations of pension plan design change, change in benefit formula or assumptions and other special projects.
Develop program code in GRS to determine employer contributions and accounting expense, and manually create accounting reports that details findings for the client.
Calculate trust assets received from client statements and provide reports that document assets which offset liabilities.
Calculate individual benefit calculations, review plan documents, produce employee benefit statements and file annual government reports.
Bachelors degree in Math, Statistics, Actuarial Science or related field
Experience working in teams and with large, complex amounts of data
Superior analytical skills
Superior proficiency in Microsoft excel
A minimum of one SOA exam passed
Commitment to achieving ASA/FSA and EA designations
