Position Summary
The Concrete Engineer assists management in the identification and implementation of improvement in the quality testing of concrete.
Responsibilities:
Safety Actively promotes a zero accident culture
Quality Promotes and supports quality culture, tests materials as needed and ensures outgoing product meets applicable requirements. Relays quality measures to local and corporate level.
Accuracy Performs testing better than the allowable testing variance on repeatability
Leadership Leads by example and practice to promote a quality culture.
Efficiency Understand and utilize materials for concrete in an efficient manner.
Customer Service Fosters a relationship building environment between all personnel and our customers.
Maintain recordkeeping Ensures that data entry into all needed systems is correct and up to date
Concrete Knowledge Obtain and use knowledge of concrete specifications, properties and uses, as well as Troubleshooting and design.
Research Projects Perform research and develop applicable uses of laboratory trial batches.
Jobsite Coverage Assist on various concrete projects in the area in terms of testing and jobsite coordination.
Qualifications:
One to three years experience in the construction industry preferred.
ACI Field Level I preferred.
Bachelor's degree in an engineering discipline (Mechanical, Chemical, Materials).
Basic understanding of applicable ACI codes.
Computer Literacy (MS Office Suite).
Ability to read, write and communicate in English.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to lift up to 100 lbs. up to 20 times per day.
Ability to climb ladders up to 8 feet high.
Ability to visually inspect concrete.
Ability to walk and stand on uneven surfaces up to 8 hours per day.
Ability to shovel wet concrete up to 8 times per day.
Ability to pass random drug screens.
Ability to operate company vehicle up to 8 hours per day with frequent entry and exit.
May work indoors or outdoors for extended periods of time at least five days per week with some weekend work as needed. Exposed to numerous construction materials.
