Sr. Computer Programmer

Job Description Description: The Senior Computer Programmer's role provides a skilled and experienced software developer responsible for the detailed design, implementation and testing specifically for Financial application software. This is achieved by monitoring, maintaining, supporting and optimizing Penhall's ERP Financial application software and any associated subsystems. The Senior System Engineer will apply proven communication, analytical and problem-solving skills to help identify, communicate and resolve application issues in order to maximize the benefit of IT application investments across the business enterprise. This individual will also mentor, lead troubleshooting work sessions and provide direction to 3 rd party consultants and the Penhall Finance Team. Essential Functions: Operational Management Act as second level of IT leadership to the Director of IT, providing direction and communication in the event of Financial System application issues and software functionality service interruptions. Keep the company's executive leadership team appraised of IT statuses, progress and effort as needed. Strategy & Planning Work with Finance Team to define financial system business requirements and financial system goals. Work to identify and resolve financial systems issues. Financial systems to include but not limited to: CMS System, HRIS, Purchasing, iSuite Fixed Assets, Outlook and SQL Database. Software Development Design and deploy new Financial Job Cost applications, Job Cost data integrations and Job Cost enhancements to existing Job Costing library. Support the Finance Department on revenue recognition, month-end and year-end processes, reconciliations and procedures. Gauge the effectiveness and efficiency of existing financial system applications; develop and implement strategies for improving or further leveraging these financial application systems in accordance with the company's goals & objectives. Evaluate, propose and create software and system integration design models, specifications, diagrams and charts to provide direction to in-house and 3 rd party software developers and external development teams Design and perform financial system software application security audits, software application code backups. Develop financial system software application recovery processes in accordance with the company's disaster recovery and business continuity strategies. Create and maintain documentation as it relates to financial system software application development, data definitions, file layouts, data mapping, integration processes and release cycles. Maintain code and data refresh schedules for the various financial system software application non-production environments. Coordinate and perform Quality Assurance exercises, including end-user reviews, for modified and new financial system software applications. Participate and support Change Control management efforts to ensure minimum downtime and minimal impact to the business with software application releases and upgrades. Monitor and test financial system software application performance; prepare and deliver software application performance statistics and reports for all company locations. Provide orientation and training as needed to end-users for modified and new financial system software applications. Oversee and maintain responsibility for Service Tickets to determine trends with end user issues. Initiate corrective actions where needed to minimize business impacts. Communicate in writing (following IT standard templates) findings with appropriate management team with plan for resolution. Job Requirements Knowledge & Experience Experience in the Construction or Concrete Cutting industry is a must. Proven experience in overseeing the design, development and implementation of financial system software, applications and related ancillary services. Proven experience with Job Costing Financial methodologies and Revenue Recognition practices. Extensive experience with financial system application planning, security principles and general software management best practices. Strong knowledge of applicable data privacy best practices and guidelines. Excellent written, oral and interpersonal communication skills. Ability to conduct research into software application issues and products as required. Ability to communicate ideas in both technical and user-friendly language. Highly self-motivated and self-directed, with keen attention to detail. Proven analytical and creative problem solving abilities. Able to prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment. Ability to work in a team-oriented, collaborative environment. Formal Education The Senior Computer Programmer will have a Computer Science or Engineering bachelor's degree and 10 years of Software Development experience or at a minimum 15 years of AS/400 RPG software development experience. IBM / AS400 iSeries skills required RPG/Free, RPGLE development expertise required Experience in a Windows Server Enterprise Environment Expertise with Hawkeye, Query, Embedded SQL Web development with HTML, PHP and ASP Familiarity with AD/sendmail functionality/Outlook Knowledge of Cloud Technologies Knowledge of SAN Storage methodologies and related back up processes Knowledge of Disaster Recovery and Cybersecurity methodologies and practices. The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
