Social Insurance Specialist (Disability Specialist)

The Social Insurance Specialist (Disability) Reviews and takes action on Title II and XVI disability claims submitted within the initial claims, appeals and continuing disability review CDR processes. Serves as a Processing Center disability resource person on medical and non-medical issues on a wide range of disability claims at all levels of appeals. Takes action on favorable disability administrative law judge appeals council and court case decisions. SELECTIVE PLACEMENT FACTOR:
In addition to the specialized experience requirement listed below, applicants must have experience in making final medical determinations of disability at the initial, reconsideration, and/or continuing disability review level. You must show this experience in your resume. Applicants who do not meet the selective placement factor are ineligible for further consideration. All qualification requirements must be met by the closing date of the announcement. Specialized experience is experience directly related to the position to be filed which has equipped the candidate with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities needed to successfully perform the duties of the position. Examples of specialized experience include developing, examining, investigating or authorizing of claims under a program for benefits, health insurance, pension plan, income maintenance or related programs or experience which provided a broad knowledge of the subject area of the position to be filled. GS-11:
Applicants must have 52 weeks of specialized experience at the GS-9 level, or equivalent, which is in or related to the work of the position to be filled and has equipped applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position. Competency Assessment Interview Process (CAIP):
Applicants will be required to participate in a structured panel interview to demonstrate an aptitude for meeting and dealing with the public. This interview will be administered/conducted utilizing the Competency Assessment Interview Process (CAIP). Applicants must pass this interview process in order to be found fully qualified for this position and receive further consideration for selection. This interview will cover typical situations, which might be encountered on the job, in person or over the telephone. Candidates must demonstrate qualities such as clarity of speech, ability to listen, ability to establish confidence and put others at ease and the ability to organize and express thoughts clearly. If you do not pass the CAIP interview, you will not qualify for the job.

The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
